Above is an interview I conducted for an online publication I contribute to called Gear There Everywhere. The interview was with Tom Bowden who runs independent retailer Working Class Heroes based in Ulverston, Cumbria.

From 8:06 – 10:46

My role for this particular piece was that of a Sports Presenter. For this, I had to write and edit the TV scripts in order to keep our TV broadcast concise and within the required time limits so that the broadcast didn’t overrun. This was the first time that I had presented before however I felt like despite my lack of experience in front of a camera I was confident and fulfilled the role to the best of my ability. Prior to this I also filmed the interview with Radcliffe Borough Chairman Paul Hilton after their stadium had been affected in a fire. As I am much more focused towards the Multimedia side of journalism as opposed to broadcast I felt that my broadcast pieces were of a respectable standard. I feel that despite my lack of experience presenting I was confident and delivered my speech clearly.

My role for this piece was that of Radio Sports Presenter and Sports Scripts Editor. This meant I had to write and edit the sports scripts so that it flowed coherently for the live broadcast. I also sourced an interview with England U 17’s Player Emily Ramsay and her Mum. I conducted and recorded the interview myself and then edited the audio so that it could be used as part of our live broadcast. Unfortunately, Emily and her Mum were not available for a face to face interview due to their tight schedules so the interview was recorded in the radio studio. I’m aware that these types of recordings don’t offer the best audio quality but at the time this was the only option I had available to me.
The original interview was around thirty minutes long which meant that I needed to blend and edit several clips together in order to make a shorter more coherent audio clip in order to fit our timings, which I believe I did. Throughout the editing process, I used a variety of techniques within adobe audition in order to obtain an appropriate audio clip. I did this by blending other segments of the interview in together to make one clip. Trimming clips in order to remove unnecessary breaks in speech or elongated pauses. And finally fading multiple clips into one another so that it sounded like one answer as opposed to multiple clips thrown together. I believe I did this to a respectable standard despite a lack of experience using programmes such as Audition I believe that over the course of the Newsday’s I have become more than competent using editing software’s and can navigate them confidently.

My role for this piece was that of Radio Sports Presenter and Sports Scripts Editor. For this, I had to write and edit the sports scripts so that it flowed coherently for the live broadcast and remained within the timings set for the broadcast. I also edited all the audio clips used during the sports broadcast which I received from the sports reporters. As some of the audio was filmed on a camera as opposed to a Zoom Mic it made it rather difficult to produce high-quality audio, however, I edited the file within adobe audition so that it was panned through the middle and removed any background noise in order to obtain a high-quality sound. I also blended multiple clips together after listening to the interviews and vox pops I ultimately decided which ones would be best for the broadcast. I feel as though my editing skills have greatly improved during these news days and I can now effectively edit audio to a respectable standard. I also feel as if my script writing has improved greatly over the course of the two weeks. I am now able to compose simple and effective scripts
